Got a new light which should make it look nicer and provide enough light for the anemone and coral I plan on getting.

current_usa_lighting_metal_halide_sunpod_single[1] The light is a Current USA SunPod. It has one PowerPaq 14,000K HQI metal halide lamp to provide a lot of daylight. It also has both blue and white Lunar Lights mounted on the bottom side of the fixture. There are 6 each and I use them at night.

It's a great light, but the fan is too loud for our living room area. I think it's something like 25db. I've found some replacement fans that can provide almost as mush airflow but only run at 9db. I will have to order one and try it out. The other thing that I wasn't prepared for was the that the amount of heat it gives off made it impossible to keep the glass hood on it. The heat from the light caused the salt water on the tank to dry out on the hood which really looked bad. Plus it kept all the light from going thru it. I had to remove the glass top permanently. Now, because of evaporation, I'm topping off the tank every few days to keep it full.

first-fish 062 Turned my tropical fish tank into a saltwater tank. In January I cleaned all my tropical fish stuff out, including my two oscars that were quite dirty. The store took them back thankfully. The tank is a 30 gallon cube and should work great as a saltwater aquarium. I bought some new sand and the salt and some various other things and set it up.

first-fish 059 After several weeks I bought about 70lb of live rock. These pictures were taken just after i placed the rock. I will wait about a month before putting any fish in it.
